Rosehip was born from love

In 2020 I began training to become a florist after a lot of encouragement from my friends. I had previously received a BFA degree, but had been working as a ballroom dance instructor for the majority of my 20's. I was craving a quieter life where I could work with my hands, be in nature, and grow my skills again as a fine artist. I had always been drawn to floristry for those reasons. It seemed to have all of the qualities and values that I was searching for in a career. So, I called around Columbus, OH and found a florist willing to teach me floral design. I attended workshops, studied flower varieties and care, participated in and taught classes, and volunteered time. I eventually moved on to a florist studio where I learned contemporary floral design and took on more responsibility. I had grown so much in a short period of time. In 2022 my (now) husband helped convert the spare bedroom of our rental house into a studio to dry flowers and make arrangements for our wedding... and since then it's remained that way. We were married among the rosehips of the Maine coastline. That's how Rosehip began. Birthed from the encouragement of friends who care, from a husband who supports my passions, and from my love of the natural world; working with it instead of against it. At the very beginning of Rosehip's conception I worked as a farmhand for Wild Prairie Flower Farm- I began to rise with the sun, to experience the slow gradient of a season's change along with the flowers, to be in-tune with the Earth in an intimate way. I had been the lead florist for the 2023 and 2024 seasons and eventually took over all wedding operations in January 2025. Now- not only an online shop for dried wreaths and wearables- Rosehip has started booking weddings and events locally, focusing on either sourcing home-grown flowers from my cut flower garden or on supporting other small businesses by designing with fresh local farm-grown flowers. Rosehip is a one woman show with occasional help from my husband. We're small but full of thoughtful passion and I feel an immense tender care for this little business and the clients I get to work with. -Sarah Rosekelly 💐
